Housebound
Back in September before I was put on semi bed rest by my specialist, Glenn and I went to Toys R Us and created the baby registry. While we were there we picked up two car seats. As the car seats are large they do not stock them on the shelves, you pick a card from an envelope in front of the item you want and take it to the register. While you are paying they send somebody to the back to get your item. Fairly simple......not really.
Now, I'm pretty sure that the seats that we looked at were black and grey, but I have to admit I wasn't paying too much attention and now can't think back that far. In the end our seats look like this:
which is called "Sunny Safari". Nice enough pattern, don't ya think?
When we were at Toys R Us, we registered for a double stroller that would hold the car seats. Again no thought to this really, point the laser gun, voila, on the registry. Well, my Mom found one at Sears on sale, so she purchased it back in October. Since the boys weren't here yet (and not supposed to be close) and our house was still in disaray, I asked her to hold on to it......
She delivered it last weekend
Glenn noticed that it is a pattern called "Mystic"....easy enough phone Sears and see if they have Sunny Safari in stock.....no, they only carry Mystic. Ok, try Toys R Us, this shouldn't be TOO difficult, nope...they only carry "Blackwell". Glenn is stumped and would prefer that the car seat and stroller match (and so do I)!!! He then tries Target in the states, YES, they have the Sunny Safari, only they call it "Family Tree". After a phone call to Target, they don't have any in stock!!! We could have it shipped, but we need a US address.
I'm now at the point that I don't care that they don't match, but they guy who wore pink shorts in the 80's AND 90's is worried about how it will look :)
So for now I am housebound, as I can NOT carry two car seats and do any shopping or visiting. On the plus side my Mom and Aunt are coming to babysit on Friday so that I can start my Xmas shopping....maybe not having a stroller is a good thing?

you guys should not be so picky, they have all very nice expensive new stuff! they won't care that it does not match....and seriously....do either of you ever match?>
:)
They look even SMALLER in the car seat :)
Have fun shopping!
Hi, I found you through Glenn's trading website which I read quite regularly. I have a two year old, 10 month old and am pregnant with my third. I did the same thing with my first. At my shower I received a Graco car seat with a teddy bear pattern. Five months later when I went to buy the stroller they didn't have a matching pattern at Toys R Us and told me that it had actually been discontinued. I remember feeling quite sad that somehow this was important. Trust me, almost three years later I can't believe I gave it one minute of my time. (I also got on the internet looking for a match - EBAY, Babies R Us, all of them... I'm in Canada too). I ended up with a Graco that did not match but it was stolen two months after I bought it (who steals a baby stroller??) and I went with a Schwinn Jogger because it had great big wheels (for the snow in Montreal) and who am I kidding, it looked very cool. Because it had a permanent food tray, the car seat fit there quite nicely. You will find that your car seat(s) will snap into almost any stroller with a food tray. Twins! I thought I had it rough. Congratulations. After Elliot was born I bought the double Chariot Cougar and I HIGHLY recommend it. It doubles as a bike trailer but mostly it is just an awesome double stroller. My husband complains about almost everything but he loves this stroller. It has these great hammocks that you insert for infants so Elliot was in it from almost Day one. All the best, I hope it is going ok. The first months are the hardest but really, it gets easier.
Take care.
