Be careful what you wish for
I think my Dad told me this not so long ago...
We will start with....RILEY IS ROLLING OVER!!!! That's a good thing right???? I thought so too.
On Tuesday, Riley had risen from a nap at 2:30pm...all good....then he wouldn't go down again. Finally at 6pm I had had enough of the crabby kid and decided he should have a short nap (even 1/2 hour would be good). I laid him down and he screamed. Some people don't allow their kids to cry, which is a choice, with twins you don't really have that choice, otherwise you will be DEAD tired. My kids, well I give them at least 15 minutes before I go rescue them. At the 15 minute mark he started to quiet down and then all of a sudden, he was screaming again.
Down I went to check on him, he was on his back!!! (My kids sleep better on their stomachs, especially Riley. When he was NICU, as soon as they put him on his back he screamed.) He was screaming, so I told him it was a GREAT thing that he rolled over. Nap mission aborted!!!
Yesterday morning when I went to get him, he was on his back again and quite ok with it. I called Glenn and we praised him!!! OK wrong move.
I was woken up this morning at 5:20AM by some whimpering. Seems he rolled over again and decided it was time to get up. I really wasn't prepared to stay out of my warm bed at this time. He was smiling away at me, but I didn't speak to him and put him back on his stomach. I had just crawled back into bed, when he started talking. Back in I went and lo and behold, he was AGAIN on his back.
Having none of it, I put him back on his stomach, tucked him in REALLY good and stuck a pillow beside him so he couldn't roll. Don't worry it was low enough that he wouldn't smother himself!! He fell back to sleep until 8, whew!!!
So as much as I want them developing, to grow and do new things, 5:30am is just not the time. We have been pretty lucky in the last month or so....we are getting more sleep and interacting WAY more with them. I know that this is not the last time one of them will wake me up this early, but for now I can try make them see it my way.
I know, I'm in a dream world.
