Flippin chaos
Well last week Gavin and Riley's new caregiver started. Alma started May 1. She is great with the boys and they seem to really like her. I'm going to be working from home 4 days a week until September, then I will go back downtown full time.
Last week was an adjustment period for us all. Part of me was rethinking my decision to go back to work when I heard Alma and the boys last Tuesday. Then I had the "flipping chaotic" weekend.
It started Friday. We had to meet Glenn's family Friday morning to bury Bert's ashes (his Mom's husband). We then went for lunch. The boys didn't have a very long nap in the morning and were tired by the time we went for lunch. Thank god the restaurant was noisy, so not alot of people heard the crying and fussing (I hope!!).
Saturday was the boys first swimming "lesson". Since Glenn headed out to the track Friday night, my sister volunteered to play with a kid in the water. She had to wrestle my Mom for the honor, but Grama T lost cause she CAN'T swim!!! She can dog paddle and the water only comes to your waist, but I was much more comfortable with somebody who could swim.
After swimming the boys and I headed out to the track with ALL of their gear. Jolly jumpers, seats, playpens.....now the track is LOUD, so we purchased some ear muffs for the boys...let me say..THEY.WERE.NOT.IMPRESSED!!!!!
They slept well when they went for their naps in the motorhome and the noise was not really a factor. Once they were up, the earmuffs went on, they came out of the RV and subsquently began to fuss. If you held them, they were ok, but put them down, that was a BIG NO NO in their books.
We knew it was going to be tough, but honestly, it actually brought me back to the stress I was feeling back in January/February.
If you can believe it, I forgot to bring myself a pillow, so Sunday brought a whopping headache and sprinkles. Since you can't race in the rain and you can't have your six month old boys out in it, the morning seemed to drag on. The boys had a nap, but once they were up they were pretty cranky.
Motorcycles were in the staging lanes when the first sprinkles began. Everybody headed back to the pits to wait it out. While I looked at the sky with fuzzy eyes, I called Grama T for backup. Since it was cold and damp the boys would be stuck in the RV all day and my headache was not moving....so the boys and I headed home and Grama T and Barry came for a visit while I had a lay down.
Turns out I am very smart. It rained off and on all day and they finally called the race at 3:30. The boys were all smiles once we got home and they were in their own environment. We will try again in two weeks!
I love my boys very much, but I was very tired from this weekend and was VERY happy to see Alma yesterday morning.
For me I think that having a break from them for a few hours 4 days a week will make me a better Mom as I will have more patience for them. I really don't know how stay at home Mom's do it.
To add to the chaos, Auntie Kim has decided the boys should be in commercials. She made the contact and told me that she would take the boys to any auditions that they got....well tomorrow Alma and I are headed to Vancouver for 10am...not sure how Auntie Kim got out of that, but she did. I'm hoping that it goes well!!!
There are pictures from swimming and the track, but I still have to upload and thought I should at least give you an update. Yes I know, the boys were 6 months last Thursday and I didn't do a post, but I was busy playing with them!!!
