Liquids

Yesterday was the beginning of the week and I was feeling good because the sun was out. I took the boys and Georgie for a walk on the dyke!

When we got home, I fed Gavin and put him down for a nap. Riley just didn't want to go. So I snuggled with him on the couch for awhile. He still wouldn't settle, so I decided to feed him. After most of his bottle and a few burps he started to fart around with the bottle, so I took it away. I had just set it on the table when he puked up pretty much what he ate. I know most people think it's more than it actually is, but he covered him self from his eyes to his toes and me AND the couch!!! I looked at him and asked "Are you OK buddy?", his response was a HUGE smile. I guess so.

I moved him to the change pad, stripped off my pants (which were dripping) and then stripped him. I then had to give him a sponge bath!!!

No harm no foul!

Today was Gavin's turn....he has been pretty fussy for most of the day. He was eating up a storm and not sleeping. Around 3 I gave him his 4th bottle of the day. Once he was done, we were snuggling on the chair, just vegging out when I got a whiff of a dirty diaper. I thought to myself, it has to be gas as he has already gone twice today.

Nope, quick check revealed, number 3 of the day. It wasn't until I undid his diaper shirt that I realized it was UP HIS BACK!!! I actually looked down to check myself as it was all inside his shirt. Good thing I'm not the one with the gag reflex!

Off to the bathroom we went, trying to hold him without getting it on myself. By this time he was screaming bloody murder. I grabbed a few towels and laid him down on the counter. My dilemma was, how do I get this shirt off without making a further mess!! I managed to minimize the smear, he was naked except for his diaper when I realized I didn't have any baby soap in the bathroom!!! I flipped him on his stomach and held him away from me while I dashed to the kitchen.

I must say, he doesn't particularly care for a quick wash down in the bathroom sink. I'm not fond of it either.

I'm assuming they had a bug of some sort, but who knows....I wonder what tomorrow will bring??? Oh right, Glenn's mom is here tomorrow, should I tell her to wear a smock?

What triggers your memory?

The boys Grama T was here on Friday to look after them while I worked.....

I took a bit of time for myself while she was here and went and got my eyebrows waxed. Now are you wondering why I'm broadcasting that? Well, everytime I go, I think of a girl I used to work with. You may have seen her comments on here from time to time..the loverly Angella.

Now I bring this up, because years ago she convinced me to get my eyebrows done. She even paid for the first time!!! Since then everytime I go I curse her. One because of the pain and the other because of the out of pocket expense!! This time I honestly think I haven't been since before the boys were born!!! The reason I think this is because it hurt more than usual and for a long time after!!! BUT I'm much happier today when I look in the mirror.

I know this seems like a strange post, but really what triggers a memory for you? An event, a place, a song, a smell, a time of year?

There are so many when you think about it, good and bad. I had a tough week this week with the boys and I'm hoping that it's a memory that fades in time. When they give me a hard time, I just look at some of the many pictures I have of them and they can make me smile.

It does help when Glenn does strange stuff, like put Riley's sock on his hands and then take a picture...

Or Gavin wondering what Grama T is doing!

Riley wondering what this funny tasting thing is

Balance

So today the boys went for their 4 months shots. They are healthy and Gavin is a little behind his brother in development, but not by alot. Gavin is in the 5th percentile for weight and 10th for length. Riley is in the 25th for weight and between 10 and 25 for length. The only reason they are so low is that they go by their actual age rather than their corrected age, which is 2 1/2 months vs. 4 1/2.

Riley weighed in at 13lbs 12oz and Gavin weighed in at 11lbs 7oz. Riley has gained a pound and Gavin has only gained 5oz since our last visit three weeks ago. The doc isn't concerned though. They are growing and developing.

The balance today is that I have a whopping headache as I've had to listen to non-stop crying since they had their shots. If one wasn't crying the other one was. Currently Glenn is trying to deal with two, but I will eventually go and help him, I think. I know that the shots are for their own good, but after 3 1/2 hours of crying you tend to wonder if it is.

On Saturday I left the house at 7am to head downtown for a day of work. All the boys were sleeping when I left....when I came home, it seems Glenn enlisted the help of Super Dave (who calls Gavin "The Gavinator")

On Sunday, the rain stopped long enough for us to go for a walk on the dyke and Georgie for a swim

Even though I would like to run screaming from the house right now....I'm going to go help my husband get these little dudes to bed.

How Jolly!!!

The boys are now trying out the jolly jumper. Glenn installed one on the weekend. I have two but I wanted to see if they both liked it and then would install the other one as well.

The first couple of times I only put them in it for a few minutes, but they both like it. Gavin can spin himself around pretty good, not quite there on the jumping though. Gavin likes to lean to the left and then kick his right foot and Riley is the opposite. It's quite funny to watch. I have video but I will post when they are a tiny bit more co-ordinated.

Georgie is likes it as well because the boys are on her level. She will streak by them and give them a huge kiss on the face.

********
My computer has moved from the living room, hence the lack of posts. I have been banished to the bedroom upstairs as I started working this week. Glenn's mom was here yesterday and my mom is coming on Friday. I don't think updating my blog is something I should be doing while someone else is watching my kids.

I will try and be more diligent (but I refer you back to my original post in November)....Monday is 4 month shot day, so I will have news on weights and what the scoop is on Gavin's feet! Speaking of which, I think he knows his shoes are on the wrong feet and is trying to make it right! I find him every morning with his feet crossed!

The boys were hanging out before their bath today.

Look at Gavin's grin.....is he going to be a devil or what?

Sleep overs

This weekend we only had one baby per night.

On Friday, Grama W picked Riley up and kept him until about 5pm on Saturday.

On Saturday, Grama T and Barry picked Gavin up at about 1:30 and brought him back Sunday afternoon.

Friday, Glenn and I took Gavin to Chapters and then had dinner at Bread Garden. I must say one baby is certainly easier to handle then two!!! He was a perfect angel (yes we had Gavin!!!). We did have to wake him to take him out, but he fell asleep in Chapters and slept through our meal.

On Saturday, after my Mom picked up Gavin, I was all by myself!!! No babies, no husband...just me. I cranked up the stereo and did a little housecleaning. Beds were stripped, the kitchen got a clean and I vacuumed the whole house!!! I shoulda had a nap but I had things to do.

Riley came home and we played for a bit, then he had a nap and I had a shower!!!

Just after 6 Leslie came over and her and I headed out to dinner at Earl's. We had a nice dinner, while Glenn and Riley had some bonding time.

Yesterday we had a full house. The boy's Great Auntie Glo and Great Grama B came over for a visit with Riley (they saw Gavin at my Mom's the previous night). Then Mom and Barry brought Gavin back. I decided to make a big pot of chili and everybody stayed for dinner. While I was making dinner my Aunt and Mom took the boys for a walk on the dyke.

It was a good weekend and all the activity of yesterday helped the boys sleep last night. They went down at 7:30 and got up at 10 this morning. Not to say they didn't get up to eat (Gavin at midnight and 6:30 and Riley at 6 only), but I slept until 9!!! Which was nice considering Riley was up EARLY yesterday!

The boys were four months old on Saturday and I see changes happening. Riley is a very social guy. He entertained his Great Aunt yesterday for quite awhile telling her stories and smiling at her. Gavin is getting there....he was smiling yesterday and talking, but he is quite a bit more serious than Riley.

I love the fact that they have different personalities, I really look forward to seeing how they come about.

There were two sad notes this weekend. On Friday my Mom had to say goodbye to one of her dogs (Mikey) and we will miss him terribly. I could say more, but I will cry and so will my Mom who reads this religiously!

The other sad note....I posted a week or so ago about a couple in Colorado who had twins. The little boy did not make it, he was 11 days old. It breaks my heart that he went undetected in the womb and can't really understand how it happened. The first sign that Gavin wasn't growing and my doctor didn't even hesitate. I went from her office to the hospital....do.not.pass.go!!! With my ultrasounds every four weeks, they measured every single thing they could on the boys!!! My heart breaks for this couple as they tried very hard for their babies.

My Dad and I are hopefully heading to Westbank tomorrow so Great Grama T can meet the boys...it all depends on the weather!!

Have a great week!!!

4 years

2003 was a banner year for us.

Today we have been in our house for FOUR years!!!!

2003 saw ups and downs. January brought endless in days in the hospital visiting my stepdad and scrambling to find a house. We had sold the townhouse to buy a different property that we walked away from.

February saw the passing of my stepdad from prostate cancer (still miss him very much)!

March saw us moving into this house and then jetting off to New York shortly thereafter.

In May we got ourselves a beautiful 8 week old puppy, who headed to Ashcroft to go racing about 2 hours after we picked her up.

In September we tied the knot.

Those are the low/high lights of 2003!

So here we are four years later, with lots of renos done to said property, a dog who has grown into a very gentle girl and two babies who will be four months on Saturday!!!

Where does the time go?
