Passing through

Well, last Sunday Glenn attempted to go racing, but was home about 2 hours after he left as the race was called due to rain. So off we went to finally get our veggies so Glenn could plant our garden. Which is now growing quite nicely.

Monday was our holiday, so I packed up the boys and headed out to see some friends. Karin and Mike had come in from Alberta on Sunday and were staying with John and Dar. So the boys I went to Dar's and had a short visit. They were tired, so we only stayed for a couple of hours.

My Mom and Barry stopped by to see the boys on their way home from the lake. Quick fisted Riley got ahold of the cat while Barry was holding him. I must say, Berley wasn't impressed, but Riley was pryed from her (furr and skin), with not a swat from said cat.

Tuesday the boys had their 6 month shots and were declared in good health. Gavin weighed in at just over 14 lbs and pudgy - sorry I mean Riley, weighed in at 15 lbs 15 oz!!! Gavin is in 50th percentile for weight and height and Riley is in the 75th. Those are for their corrected ages which is 5 months, even though they will be 7 months on SUNDAY!!!

The doctor and I talked about Gavin's shoes. I have watched him and his shoes get caught when he is on his tummy and when his shoes are off he looks at his feet as if they are foreign objects. So my boy gets a reprieve for now. His shoes have been off for a week and he now is starting to grab for his feet as he watches Riley shove his toes in his mouth. Tummy time is alot less stressful as well, he actually likes being there now!!!

Karin and Mike came over Tuesday night for dinner and a sleep over. Joei (Karin's 18 month old Border Collie) came as well and kept Georgie busy. Wed Karin and Mike left and headed out to Mission for the Divisional race.

Jump to Saturday and we had a surprise 60th birthday party to attend for a family friend. See Gavin, he fell asleep on Grama T while a live band was playing. Riley fell asleep on his Great Auntie Glo (but I missed the photo op). Once asleep they were tucked into their car seats and under a table. The naps were short, but they did sleep!!! How's that for GREAT babies!

Sunday morning I headed out to Mission and Glenn stayed with the boys. I have been helping Dar with DRAW (Drag Racing Association of Women) for about 5 years now. It's an organization that raises money and supports injured drag racers and their families. If a racer is injured on the track, DRAW steps in and helps pay bills until they are back on their feet. When Glenn crashed we were lucky it happened in Mission and not in the US. We didn't need their help, but there are lots of people out there that do.

So I don't have a lot of pictures to post as we've been kind of busy and NONE of Riley. Sorry folks.

My sister and I are headed to Westbank on Friday morning as our Grandmother is not well. My Dad is headed up tomorrow after being there most of last week.

I will try and get some more pictures up before I leave, but no promises. I am leaving Glenn and the boys behind, so I have to have all my ducks in a row before I go.

Lost

So the first long weekend of the "summer" and we are at home!!!

We had a few options this weekend being racing, a party or heading up to Shuswap Lake.

A few weeks ago Glenn and I were invited to a 50th birthday party which as we speak is getting under way. The party is in Seattle (or close to it) and it's for Miles, whom Glenn has raced with for years. (I still can't believe he's 50!!!). We had planned on going then realized it was a race weekend in Mission. So we opted not to go.

My Mom and Barry headed up to the lake late last week and I had contemplated on going up as well. Since the boys had not done well at the last race, I tossed back and forth whether they (meaning I) would be happier at the lake. My sister had talked about taking them for the weekend to the lake, but again I opted for racing.

Well if you live in the lower mainland, then you know what we woke up to this morning. Gavin (who has reverted to not sleeping well and not eating) woke up at 6:30. Glenn and I both got up as we were to head out to the track. Well, it was sprinkling, so we figured that they wouldn't be ready to race at 9am. So on went the coffee, up got Riley and still we waited.

Glenn went to his computer to check the Mission webcam and see what it looked like out there. Some attempts to dry the track and finally, no racing today folks!!

So now, Glenn is outside working and I'm inside lost as to what I'm going to do. The boys are on different schedules due to Gavin's early rise, so I'm kind of limited to what I can do. A nap would be good!!

I actually pondered whether we should drive to Seattle or Shuswap Lake, but Glenn put a kibosh on both of those ideas, because if it's nice when we get up tomorrow, we are headed to Mission.

I hope everybody else, either has great weather and enjoys the great outdoors, or has a good book to curl up with!!

Photos

Good thing it has safety straps....he was farther to the left orginally, then got himself back the proper way and then slid down to the current position, all in a matter of seconds!!!

This is his first meal in his highchair. It got aborted part way through as he isn't quite steady enough to stay there for any length of time. He went back to the other seat and finished up nicely. The problem also was seeing life from a different aspect, he really wasn't paying too much attention to me!

Drained

We had to make a quick trip to Costco this evening. The boys did well right up until the end....they were tired.

Costco drained my bank account and the boys

It's less than 10 minutes from Costco to here and they were out COLD!!!

Where does the time go?

Last Friday Glenn and I had Friday night date night. We have been trying to do this since the beginning of the year. Sometimes we just head to the mall to pick up diapers, etc and eat where ever we are.

This Friday we took the boys to Rocky Point in Port Moody. They have AWESOME fish and chips. Our boys were wonderful. Gavin fell asleep on the way there and stayed asleep for quite awhile until all the lookyloos came to take a look at "the twins". Riley was awake and loved all the attention! We ate our dinner while the boys looked around, it was a great outing.

Saturday did not look so good. We had swimming Saturday morning at 9:15 and Riley decided to get up at 7!!! He did this to me last Saturday as well, so I wasn't quite concerned. Well it seems the pool had a boiler problem and the pool wasn't quite cold, but not the usual warm pee temp that it normally is (sorry, but that's about the temp of it!). Riley lasted all of about 5 minutes and began to fuss. Gavin lasted about 20. The lessons are about 1/2 an hour and I had to swear to Glenn that they enjoyed it last week.

The instructor decided that submersions would be introduced as well. Needless to say, that sent Riley over the edge and that is what started Gavin crying. I took Riley out with 10 mins left and he was very happy wrapped in his towel watching everybody else.

I dropped the boys with Grama T in the afternoon then I came home, cleaned and worked. Glenn and I then went and rented a movie and went for Japanese. Sunday morning I was up early, but I did numerous loads of laundry, cleaned and got ready for lunch with our Mom's.

I took pictures, but will post them tomorrow. The "boys" got me a necklace and pendant. I was flipping through the inserts from the newspaper and saw it. I pointed it out to Glenn, who replied "I thought you wanted a lawnchair?". He likes not having to make a decision. He takes the page out of the flyer, goes to the store and says, "I would like this." No fuss, no muss!!! If only I could get him to do that with everything!

While my Mom had the boys she introduced them to the world of finger/foot paint. She and Barry painted up the boys and stuck their hands and feet on a t-shirt. It is quite awesome!! I promise a picture tomorrow.

I hear a crying boy (10pm?!?), I'm not sure what's up, but it's time for me to sign off.

Pics tomorrow, for sure!!!

Long awaited pictures

Well I finally cleared my camera and didn't realize it had been so long.

Enjoy the pictures and your weekend.

Grama T is taking the boys tomorrow for a sleep over and then coming back Sunday for brunch. Grama W is coming for brunch as well being that it is Mother's Day on Sunday. I wonder what my boys will give me for Mother's Day.....I can guarantee some smiles, some attitude and nice soggy diapers, but what else?

The audition went well on Wed and callbacks are next week, so keep your fingers crossed!!

Hats!!! Don't they look cute?

This is how their Dad feeds them!

The first Waterbabies session - they quite liked it. Gavin enjoyed the shower afterward as well!

Flippin chaos

Well last week Gavin and Riley's new caregiver started. Alma started May 1. She is great with the boys and they seem to really like her. I'm going to be working from home 4 days a week until September, then I will go back downtown full time.

Last week was an adjustment period for us all. Part of me was rethinking my decision to go back to work when I heard Alma and the boys last Tuesday. Then I had the "flipping chaotic" weekend.

It started Friday. We had to meet Glenn's family Friday morning to bury Bert's ashes (his Mom's husband). We then went for lunch. The boys didn't have a very long nap in the morning and were tired by the time we went for lunch. Thank god the restaurant was noisy, so not alot of people heard the crying and fussing (I hope!!).

Saturday was the boys first swimming "lesson". Since Glenn headed out to the track Friday night, my sister volunteered to play with a kid in the water. She had to wrestle my Mom for the honor, but Grama T lost cause she CAN'T swim!!! She can dog paddle and the water only comes to your waist, but I was much more comfortable with somebody who could swim.

After swimming the boys and I headed out to the track with ALL of their gear. Jolly jumpers, seats, playpens.....now the track is LOUD, so we purchased some ear muffs for the boys...let me say..THEY.WERE.NOT.IMPRESSED!!!!!

They slept well when they went for their naps in the motorhome and the noise was not really a factor. Once they were up, the earmuffs went on, they came out of the RV and subsquently began to fuss. If you held them, they were ok, but put them down, that was a BIG NO NO in their books.

We knew it was going to be tough, but honestly, it actually brought me back to the stress I was feeling back in January/February.

If you can believe it, I forgot to bring myself a pillow, so Sunday brought a whopping headache and sprinkles. Since you can't race in the rain and you can't have your six month old boys out in it, the morning seemed to drag on. The boys had a nap, but once they were up they were pretty cranky.

Motorcycles were in the staging lanes when the first sprinkles began. Everybody headed back to the pits to wait it out. While I looked at the sky with fuzzy eyes, I called Grama T for backup. Since it was cold and damp the boys would be stuck in the RV all day and my headache was not moving....so the boys and I headed home and Grama T and Barry came for a visit while I had a lay down.

Turns out I am very smart. It rained off and on all day and they finally called the race at 3:30. The boys were all smiles once we got home and they were in their own environment. We will try again in two weeks!

I love my boys very much, but I was very tired from this weekend and was VERY happy to see Alma yesterday morning.

For me I think that having a break from them for a few hours 4 days a week will make me a better Mom as I will have more patience for them. I really don't know how stay at home Mom's do it.

To add to the chaos, Auntie Kim has decided the boys should be in commercials. She made the contact and told me that she would take the boys to any auditions that they got....well tomorrow Alma and I are headed to Vancouver for 10am...not sure how Auntie Kim got out of that, but she did. I'm hoping that it goes well!!!

There are pictures from swimming and the track, but I still have to upload and thought I should at least give you an update. Yes I know, the boys were 6 months last Thursday and I didn't do a post, but I was busy playing with them!!!
